End of an era. A very fond farewell to Rob Gilbert

Wednesday 5th July saw the retirement of Rob Gilbert after 17 loyal years service as Halsey Hall Bar Manager.

At the event organised by the Board for Rob and his wife Ronnie a large turnout of Masons and their partners came together to celebrate not his leaving but to recognise his contribution to the Hall over that period.

A superb buffet from our resident chef helped see the night went off with style and enjoyed by over 60 people.

As a Mason Rob will no doubt  enjoy his retirement by being able to sit on the other side of the bar and enjoy the festive board when he comes along as a guest  to the Lodges  which showered  him with invitations on the night.

The Board Chairman, John Bond, spoke about Rob’s service and commented that in all those 17 years he had never seen Rob the worse for wear as a result of excessive drinking which is more than can be said for some of the brethren !

On behalf of the Board and members who had contributed to a collection John presented Rob with a Parker pen, a whisky decanter and glasses, a gift voucher and some fun gifts, along with a card which had been signed by those who were able to attend and on behalf of those who were unable to be there.

Although Rob is officially retired he will no doubt continue to be active in his role as a member of the Halsey Hall Events Team as well as fulfilling his other nearly full time job running Grandad’s Taxi Service.

A well deserved break is now ahead of you Rob so enjoy it.
